They both are immortal by taking some special blessing from Lord Brahma and start thinking that they have also become God. Holika and Hiranyakashyap both torture mankind and forcefully demand that everyone worship is only for him. But Hiranyakashyap own son 'Prahlad' refuse to worship for hiranyakashyap because he is truly devoted to Lord Vishnu. This irritate the hiranyakashyap and he make many plans to kill the him. But none of the plan works. At last he ask help of Holika. Holika Take the prahlad and sit on the bonfire as she is immune from fire but a very strange tragedy happen and holika got burn and prahlad survive by watching this hiranyakashyap unable to control his anger and move ahead to kill prahlad suddenly
Lord Nasrhima (Vishnu) appear and kill the Hiranyakashyap and save the prahlad. The Bonfire is the symbolic of the victory of goods over evil and Prahlad over Hiranyakashyap. This year Holi is on 24th march 2016.
